Cheryl Rumley, RN, Founder and President, Apex Home Care
When age and disabilities start to unravel families or perplex loved ones, it is not uncommon for them to begin looking for help. Cheryl Rumley’s life experiences and her passion as a caregiver began as the oldest of eight siblings. Cheryl’s mom was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 39; she died at 41 when Cheryl was 15 years old.
Cheryl began her freshman year in high school as a caregiver for her dad and seven brothers and sisters. Completing her bachelor of science in nursing at Fitchburg State College in 1975, her nursing career included positions in neurology, pediatrics, obstetrics and pediatric and adult home care. She taught nursing as an adjunct professor at Becker College.
In 1999, Cheryl founded Apex Home Care. Her belief, that there is no single approach to any individual’s needs, drives her agency’s philosophy of customized care today.
“When I meet a new family, I enjoy looking at their wedding and family pictures. By understanding the love and support surrounding each client, I open a conversation that helps us create an individualized plan of care for the loved one that needs in-home support.” – Apex Home Care Founder and President Cheryl Rumley, RN
Lisa Biondi, Coordinator/Office Manager
Lisa Biondi became a caregiver to her mother in 2005 after she was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. This experience led her to a career that would help the sick, the elderly and those who needed support to remain in their homes. Lisa trained for and became a Red Cross-Certified Nursing Assistant; she began working for Apex Home Care in 2009. Promoted to coordinator/office manager in 2012, Lisa continues to play an important role in clients’ care. Lisa gets to know each client personally, matches them with the right home health professional, and manages their care schedules.
“I have a deep admiration for the elderly and their life experiences. It is through them that I learned the true definition of caregiver. My goal is to one day become an RN, because helping people in need will always be in my heart.” – Lisa Biondi, Coordinator/Office Manager
Jazzmin Craigwell-Bowden, Payroll Manager
Jazzmin Craigwell-Bowden manages Apex Home Care’s payroll and accounting needs. A graduate of Westfield State University with majors in social work, psychology, and accounting, she joined the agency in February 2017. While in school, Jazzmin gained valuable human service experience at the Chicopee, Massachusetts health department, where she continues to work part-time.
“After my brother shared his experiences as a counselor to children in group homes, I also became interested in a career that would allow me to serve the less fortunate. My social work and psychology education has been an asset when talking to Apex Home Care’s clients, case managers, and staff. I am delighted to be able to combine all my interests and skills, while serving others, in one position!” – Jazzmin Craigwell-Bowden, Payroll Manager

After college, he began his career in medical sales for an international procurement company. After realizing that his heart was in caregiving, he enrolled at Bay State College, where he is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in nursing. “Apex Home Care has been part of my family for as long as I can remember. When I was nine years old I held my first position in the office shredding and filing paper. While in college, I had the opportunity to work for mom’s agency as a Certified Nursing Assistant, which was my first experience as a caregiver. During this time, I saw the huge positive impact our services have on our clients and their families. My experiences with different organizations around the world will help me bring new ideas and technology to Apex Home Care. I look forward to constantly implementing and updating our technology to secure the most effective care possible for our clients and their families.” – Kurt Gagliardi, Marketing Associate, Apex Home Care
