Mission of The State Office of Minority and Women Business Assistance (SOMWBA)
The State Office of Minority and Women Business Assistance (SOMWBA) is an agency within the Massachusetts Department of Economic Development which promotes the development of certified minority business enterprises (MBE), women owned (WBE) business enterprises, and minority non-profit (M/NPO) and women (W/NPO) non-profit organizations. It does this by facilitating their participation in Massachusetts’s business and economic development opportunities. Specifically, SOMWBA offers services in certification, enforcement, business assistance and advocacy.
Benefits of Women Business Enterprise (WBE)
WBE Certification is a nationally recognized and accepted designation for businesses that are at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by a woman or women.
WBE status can be used to source contracts with both national and regional “corporate members” which include corporations, non-profit organizations and government agencies.
WBENC certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) is accepted by over 700 national corporations, non-profit organizations and other entities in the U.S. Many are members of WBENC and (WBEA) and others are not but they all recognizes and accept your certification.
